Anyone with a brain already noticed this trend, as blue states face record housing costs, record homelessness, record crime, and record numbers of citizens fleeing these Democratic bastions for states with more liberty and less government. Why have Texas and Florida become such hot spots for those fleeing New York and California? It doesn’t take a genius to figure it out, but the New York Times recently spent some brainpower on the subject, crunching the data, and found that liberal Democratic politicians tend to wallow in their own hypocrisy as they attack everyone else for the problems they caused and preside over.
The video investigation, which is embedded below, was produced by Johnny Harris, a journalist for the Times, as well as Binyamin Appelbaum, the Times’ lead writer on business and economics.
Why such a disparity between blue states and red states on major stats like crime and homelessness? It’s rather simple actually. Liberal hypocrisy of giving lip service to problems, but never wanting to actually solve them in their own backyard:
“In key respects, many blue states are actually doing worse than red states,” the journalists noted in a written report accompanying the video. “It is in the blue states where affordable housing is often hardest to find, there are some of the most acute disparities in education funding and economic inequality is increasing most quickly.”
“Blue states are the problem,” Appelbaum, who covers economics and business for the Times, exclaimed.
“Blue states are where the housing crisis is located. Blue states are where the disparities in education funding are the most dramatic. Blue states are the places where tens of thousands of homeless people are living on the streets. Blue states are the places where economic inequality is increasing most quickly in this country. This is not a problem of not doing well enough; it is a situation where blue states are the problem,” he added.
The “NIMBY” (not in my backyard) mentality is massive with Democrats. Wind farms in Massachusetts? Not if it means blocking views from the Kennedy compound!
Issue after issue, Democrats rely on progressive tropes that end up creating more problems than they solve. What we’re witnessing right now with the skyrocketing crime wave in Los Angeles is just the latest incarnation of Democratic policies fully enacted. Eliminate penalties for petty crimes, weaken the police department, and bingo! An instant crime wave of theft and rampant looting.
On issues like education, wealthy individuals in major cities send their children to private schools while forcing public schools to focus on social justice issues rather than less important things like reading and math. The result? Kids who “graduate” but can’t read past a fourth-grade level, but can tell you their pronouns and who their oppressors are.
As so many Republicans point out, the issues that exist within every major inner-city urban area exist in a vacuum of political power that is controlled exclusively by the Democratic Party. If inner-city schools aren’t funded properly or aren’t producing students than can read and write proficiently, blame Democrats, they’re the only ones in charge in most cases, especially in states like New York, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Washington.
The video investigation focused on some of the main tenants of the Democratic Party platform and found that in all three, blue states were failing despite one-party rule:
They focused on three core initiatives of the Democratic Party platform: affordable housing, economic equality, and educational opportunity. And in the end, they discovered that “liberal hypocrisy,” not Republican opposition, “is fueling American inequality” and that things are actually much worse in blue states than they are in red.
At one point, Harris noted that “affluent liberals tend to be really good at showing up at the marches and talking about how they love equality, [and] at putting signs in their lawns saying, ‘All are welcome here.'”
It’s rather incredible, really, to see Democrats wonder why cities are crumbling under their exclusive and authoritarian rule.
There has been a backlash, in some cases, such as the recent mayoral election in New York, where Eric Adams, a tough-on-crime business-friendly Democrat won in November. His message? Very simple. Fix the crime problem by actually prosecuting criminals, and promoting business-friendly policies that help the city. Novel concepts for the Democratic Party in 2021 which is obsessed with race, gender, and every other way society can be divided.
Every state has problems, for sure, but many blue states excel in areas that create large disparities in inequality compared to their red state counterparts.
Here’s the full video from the Times, it’s worth a watch:
For the liberal “paper of record” to even write the title “Liberal Hypocrisy is Fueling American Inequality” must have been a hard pill to swallow. But, credit where it’s due, some people wouldn’t believe these stats and truths unless they have a New York Times logo next to them.
