In the latest NPR/Marist survey, President Biden is sitting at the same level of approval as he was back in late November, 42%. It’s Biden’s level of disapproval, however, that has ticked up once again over the past few weeks to a new intensity of 38%. That’s a level of disgust rarely seen by any president, especially during the first year in office. Republicans soured long ago, as did independents. Now it’s mostly Democrats peeling away nudging Biden’s disapproval numbers in an upward trajectory.
What’s driving the numbers? Once again, it’s the economy, and the overall feeling that Biden is a terrible leader that seems disconnected from having a handle on any crisis swirling around him:
The president’s approval rating was just 42% in this survey, tied with a late November poll for the lowest Marist had found since Biden took office.
What’s more, the intensity of disapproval is high — 38% said they strongly disapprove of Biden. That’s close to the territory that President Donald Trump resided in during his term.
While the numbers are a sign of a deeply polarized society, there’s also evidence of lackluster feelings for the president among even people in his own party.
For example, in the survey, while 76% of Republicans strongly disapproved of the job Biden is doing, only 38% of Democrats strongly approved.
Voters also don’t seem to credit Biden with his so-called “popular” legislative agenda the way the White House thinks they should:
Americans don’t feel the direct payments or expanded child tax credits doled out earlier this year helped them much, according to the latest NPR/Marist poll, and they don’t see Democrats’ signature legislation as addressing their top economic concern — inflation.
Americans do mostly endorse the new infrastructure law but are less supportive of Democrats’ Build Back Better bill that has passed the House. And while that legislation would expand the social safety net, survey respondents weren’t convinced that it would help people like them.
Only 38% of Democrats “Strongly Approve” of the job Biden is doing as President? He’s clearly losing his own party, despite whatever garbage the media is now selling in direct coordination with the White House.
It must really be that bad inside the strategy sessions of White House that they realized they need to start involving direct talks with left-wing media outlets to alter their coverage and stop reporting Biden’s failures.
Earlier this week, it was discovered that Biden advisors have been grumbling behind the scenes and reaching out to places like CNN to help them craft a message and improve coverage of Biden:
The White House has been secretly begging news organizations to give “favorable” coverage to President Biden rather than focusing on his failings, according to a report.
The administration is “not happy” with the unflattering headlines and coverage of the supply-chain disaster and handling of the economy — and so “has been working behind the scenes trying to reshape coverage in its favor,” CNN’s Reliable Sources said.
Senior White House and administration officials “have been briefing major newsrooms over the past week,” a source told the outlet’s media reporter Oliver Darcy.
The meetings have been led by a trio of administration officials: National Economic Council deputy directors David Kamin and Bharat Ramamurti, as well as ports envoy John Porcari, Darcy wrote in his newsletter.
“I’m told the conversations have been productive, with anchors and reporters and producers getting to talk with the officials,” Darcy wrote.
Move along, nothing to see there. Just the White House engaged in talks with anchors to help “improve” the coverage of Biden and cover-up facts like inflation running at a 40 year high. It must have worked because a lot of media Democrats are getting excited about the average price of gasoline dropping a few pennies in recent days. Gas is now $3.39 on average instead of $3.42! Let’s buy an island!

Never mind that the price rose well over a dollar since Biden took office so 3 cents is nothing. But hey, Biden has to take any good news he can get even if it’s made up.
Biden is now actively shopping for media outlets to give him good coverage because there’s not much good to accurately report. Democrats often accused President Trump of doing this, yet over 90% of media coverage was constantly negative against Trump. If Biden had a fraction of the negative coverage Trump had, his approval wouldn’t be north of 20%.
