It seemed painfully obvious to anyone watching closely that something seemed to stop Democratic officials nationwide and give them an incentive to start reversing onerous Covid-19 restrictions.
Surely, it wasn’t constituents complaining, they have proved time and time again they don’t care about that. The data point that made them pay attention and decide to start giving people their freedoms back was the possibility of losing power, the only thing they truly care about.
According to new internal polling performed for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), the group tasked with ensuring Democrats win or retain control of the House of Representatives, voters in swing districts nationwide, from California to New York, are ready to throw the Dems out and vote for someone who believes in personal liberty and cares about the issues that matter:
The DCCC, which is the main campaign arm for House Democrats and is currently chaired by New York Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, worked with outside consulting groups to conduct an online poll of voters in the 60 most competitive House districts for the upcoming 2022 midterms. The poll was conducted from mid-January to early February, had approximately 1,000 respondents and a 3.1% margin of error.
…
The poll found that that 57% of voters in competitive congressional districts agree with the statement, “Democrats in Congress have taken things too far in their pandemic response,” and 66% of self-defined “swing” voters in competitive districts agree with that statement. White and Hispanic voters in competitive districts were equally as likely to agree (59%), while Black voters (42%) and Asian voters (46%) disagreed with the statement. The poll also did not define what “taken things too far” means.
Unsurprisingly, Covid restrictions weren’t the only issue plaguing Dems as we careen toward the midterms. Other items of note such as the economy and inflation as a driver of cost increases also weigh down the Democratic Party brand.
The other topic going unnoticed by Democrats is skyrocketing crime. The “Defund the Police” mantra continues to hurt Democratic candidates nationwide because the crime wave that started in 2020 continues to this day and has only worsened, fanned by soft-on-crime progressive policies. In Democrat-controlled city after Democrat-controlled city, crime stats of all types are off the charts, with violent crime spiking to historic levels in some areas.
Demonizing law enforcement has a lot to do with it, and everyone is paying the price now for streets that are less safe thanks to a “defund the police” movement driven entirely and exclusively by the Democratic Party.
The internal polling was grim which is why many Democratic governors began taking the easy steps of relaxing Covid mask restrictions and trying to reposition themselves as proponents of “return to normal.” Voters know the truth, of course, Democrats would continue this ongoing state of emergency until the end of time to retain as much power as possible for as long as possible.
The other topic that’s killing Democratic candidates around the country? The border crisis that Biden created continues to worsen:
Sixty-two percent of voters in contested districts agreed with the statement, “Democrats in Congress have created a border crisis that allows illegal immigrants to enter the country without repercussions and grants them tax-payer funded benefits once here.” Seventy-eight percent of swing voters in those districts agreed.
Those are some swell numbers, Joe! A real bang-up job Biden is doing to help his party ensure victory up and down the ballot. Or not.
Even out of control spending and the topic of Critical Race Theory in schools comes into play:
Sixty-one percent of swing district voters agreed with the statements, “Democrats in Congress are spending money out of control,” and, “Democrats are teaching kids as young as five Critical Race Theory, which teaches that America is a racist country and that white people are racist.” And 59% agreed with the statement, “Democrats are too focused on pursuing an agenda that divides us and judging those who don’t see things their way.”
What’s striking in all this is how much it resembles why Glenn Youngkin won in Virginia. A state which went +10 for Biden in 2020 swung back to Republican in 2021 based largely on these exact same issues.
If the same formula repeats around the country, in every important swing district, Democrats are looking at a historic wipeout as they become nearly extinct in rural areas.
For the final nail in the progressive agenda coffin, the party is completely out of step with the average voter:
The DCCC presentation also contained a slide showing that the top two concerns of voters in competitive districts are inflation and health care, with the COVID-19 pandemic coming in third. Medicare/social security and climate change rounded out the top five. At the bottom of the list were voting rights, taxes and racial justice/equality.
Go figure that when people are paying $4 to $5 a gallon for gas and the price of grocery items keeps going up, they care less about voting rights and social justice issues.
Once again, the kitchen table issues that won in Virginia in 2021 are being replicated nationwide. Good luck, Dems, you’re going to need it.
