Irony Alert: Woke Sanctuary Cities “Overwhelmed” by Illegal Migrants Bussed From Texas

Don’t look now but Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is winning the war with progressive sanctuary cities claiming they have no problem with illegal immigration and tacitly support open border policies.

Turns out that there is a limit to how many migrants can be absorbed into the public services of New York and Washington, DC, and we’re learning what that limit is.

In short, it’s a few busloads of migrants that are overwhelming city services to the point that DC and NYC are now crying uncle as Abbott tries to raise awareness of the Biden border crisis.

What started as a publicity stunt has morphed into a full-blown win for Texas and other border states eager to make liberal politicians that champion open borders feel the consequences of their policies.

Axios butchers the reporting by trying to blame Texas for the total failure of the federal government to enforce immigration law but the point about NYC and DC being “overwhelmed” by a handful of busses comes through loud and clear:

New York and Washington, D.C., have become overwhelmed as Texas continues to send buses of migrants to those cities.

Why it matters: New York and D.C. officials say they are not prepared to handle the massive influx of migrants, in large part due to communication issues with Texas, according to multiple reports. This immediately puts migrant families into subpar conditions right when they arrive.

Driving the news: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Friday that the state has sent more than 7,000 migrants to Washington since April and another 900 to New York since Aug. 5 as a part of Operation Lone Star.

“Before we began busing migrants to New York, it was just Texas and Arizona that bore the brunt of all the chaos and problems that come with it,” Abbott said in a statement this week. “Now, the rest of America can understand exactly what is going on.”

State of play: New York’s social safety officials said the city has struggled to provide basic food needs or medical attention to those who arrived, the Times reports. Coordination has been improving, though, officials said.

New York City is complaining because it can’t handle an influx of a few hundred people? Too damn bad. If elected leaders like Democratic Mayor Eric Adams want open borders then this is the price they get to pay and the humanitarian problem they get to deal with.

For Adams’ part, he’s played right into Abbott’s hand by trying to play the victim and accusing Texas of playing politics with human capital. The crux of the matter, however, is that it’s the Biden administration playing politics and using illegal migrants as pawns by refusing to secure the border or send a stern message that the border is closed.

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, another open border stooge, has called on the federal government to provide National Guard support for migrants arriving in her city. Once again, another win for Texas pointing out that it’s the federal government’s job to deal with immigration law, not cities or states.

Border states have been under immense pressure as thousands of migrants flood into small cities and counties on a monthly basis. These are places a fraction of the size of New York City and they’ve been complaining for years.

It took just months for Adams to break down and realize that taking in hundreds of migrants a week would cause city homeless shelters to become overrun and put a strain on already-tapped city services.

No kidding! That’s what it feels like as a border state or city to deal with the same problem but for decades, not weeks.
