Report: Biden Planning to Launch 2024 Re-election Campaign Shortly After Midterms?

Could it be true, is Biden really serious about running again in 2024, or is it all a pipe dream up in his head?

According to a new report from Bloomberg, close advisors to Biden swear up and down that not only is the President serious about running for re-election but he’s being urged to light up the campaign shortly after the midterms.

Even some House Democrats recently expressed their belief that Biden was not running again in 2024 based on, well, obvious reasons.

This all still seems rather unbelievable but apparently Biden’s inner circle is urging him to launch a campaign within “months” after the midterms and start the 2024 election battle sooner rather than later, Bloomberg reports:

President Joe Biden is preparing to launch his re-election bid in the months after November’s midterm congressional elections, according to multiple aides and allies, setting up a potential 2024 re-match with former President Donald Trump.

Biden’s resolve to mount a second White House bid is hardening even with polls showing most Democrats would prefer a candidate other than the 79-year-old president. But those close to Biden describe him as buoyed by recent legislative, economic and foreign policy victories and committed to again deny Trump a return to the Oval Office.

“The president has said he’s planning on running again,” said Anita Dunn, a longtime aide who recently returned to the White House. “People should take him at his word.”

Three congressional Democrats have recently suggested Biden make way for a younger successor, while several more have pointedly declined to endorse his re-election. Biden’s approval rating is only about 40%, according to an analysis of polls by FiveThirtyEight.

But allies say Biden’s determination has grown amid revelations about Trump and his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection, as well as the former president’s continued embrace by Republicans.

2024 is not 2020.

Biden has a terrible record to defend and lately can’t explain his way out of a paper bag. Somehow Biden feels it his duty and his alone to run for re-election with the goal of keeping Donald Trump out of the White House.

In that line, it seems Democrats assume Trump is running and assume he will easily win the nomination, potentially setting up a rematch of 2020. Democrats will once again get the privilege of voting for Scranton Joe, the guy that feigns empathy for working-class voters then works to screw them over at every turn and tells them to shut up about gas prices and stop complaining.

Biden has been saying for months, even since January of this year, that he fully intends to run for re-election in 2024. That seemed implausible simply given his age and then given his record and terrible approval rating.

The fun part will be watching Democrats in the DC orbit accept Biden’s re-election bid and act as if they’re excited for him. They know he’s sinking them in the midterms right now and his leadership is a joke. How about another four years of Biden passing the buck on every issue that comes his way?

Reports have also indicated this past week that within Donald Trump’s orbit, the drumbeat to launch a 2024 presidential campaign is getting louder and louder. Expect fireworks pretty much anytime from Labor Day forward.

Even in lazy August, it’s like drinking from a firehose of news every day.
