Border Wars: Migrant Busses Arrive at Vice President Kamala Harris’ DC Residence

Well, DC has been looking to renew its post-Covid tourism so maybe Texas is doing the district a favor.

Earlier Thursday morning, outside the Naval Observatory residence of the Vice President, two busloads of illegal immigrants arrived and were disembarked on Kamala Harris’ front lawn, so to speak. There’s little doubt of some “collusion,” as it were, between Texas officials who tipped off Fox News to the impending arrival this morning.

The busses, arriving from Del Rio, Texas, are part of a strategy by border states to help transport migrants from the border to areas like Washington, DC, which proclaims itself a “sanctuary city” for illegals.

The goal, of course, is to make other parts of the country, those run by Democrats, feel the pain and experience the issues that come along with the open border sentiment fostered by the Biden administration. The optics are quite stunning:

Two migrant buses from Del Rio, Texas, arrived near Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., Thursday morning.

Between 75 and 100 people who were picked up in Eagle Pass, Texas, were sent by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. The group includes migrants from Venezuela, Uruguay, Colombia and Mexico. Multiple migrants, asked by Fox News Digital, said they think the border is open, contrary to what Harris said Sunday during an interview.

Video of the arrival this morning:

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has been pleading for help from the Defense Department and other agencies that have jurisdiction inside the district to offer support in terms of logistics and housing.

The mayor earlier declared a disaster resulting from the arriving busses last week:

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public emergency last week over the buses of migrants’ continued arrival in the city from Texas and Arizona.

Bowser’s emergency declaration will set aside funding to accommodate migrants as well as create the Office of Migrant Services. The OMS will be tasked with providing temporary accommodations, urgent medical needs, transportation” and other services for migrants.

City officials are blaming Texas and other border states for causing the problem. The real issue is the Biden border policies that continue to foster and encourage illegal immigration with lax enforcement and very little threat that anyone arriving will be returned to their country of origin.

The current Biden border policy seems to take no account of laws that have strict requirements and guidelines, and specific countries, governing who may be granted asylum.

The morning arrival at the Naval Observatory follows two plane loads of migrants arriving in Martha’s Vineyard on Wednesday courtesy of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis:

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is claiming credit for sending two planes carrying migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts Wednesday, according to a statement emailed to CNN by his office.

“Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations,” the statement said.

“States like Massachusetts, New York, and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden Administration’s open border policies.”

For years, these blue cities and states have claimed “sanctuary” status while never being forced to deal with the consequences of those declarations. They are located hundreds and sometimes thousands of miles from the southern border. Meanwhile, towns and counties located directly along the border have been fighting this fight for decades.

It’s well past time these liberal mayors and city councils felt some impact from the open border “everyone’s welcome” policy that’s causing an untenable strain on public sources and leading to an overwhelmed immigration system.
