Democrats seem obsessed with pushing the country toward civil war despite often claiming it’s the right-wing pushing for violence.
The stark truth is that political violence in America has typically been committed by left-wing activists, especially within the past two to three years. Social movements rooted in hatred toward law enforcement have caused billions of dollars in damages and the loss of life in major cities where lawlessness became the accepted norm in the name of restorative justice.
Continuing the trend of left-wing violence, D-list celebrity Kathy Griffin, somehow considered a comedian and semi-annual CNN New Year’s Eve host, threatened that a vote for Republicans in November was the same thing as a vote for civil war.
Here’s a screenshot of the original tweet in case it somehow winds up getting deleted:
Griffin has never been known as a deep thinker.
“If you don’t want a Civil War, vote for Democrats in November. If you do want Civil War, vote Republican.”
In Griffin’s mind, it’s as simple as that because, well, she’s not smart. She took a quick bashing from others who pointed out that the message looks like a call to violence itself.
Is she threatening that a Civil War will take place because Democrats will be upset if and when Republicans win in November?
Comedian Kathy Griffin ignited a Twitter firestorm after arguing that a vote for Republicans in the midterm elections amounted to an endorsement of a new “civil war.”
Griffin, who has often been the object of Republican scorn due to her fierce criticism of former President Donald Trump, suggested that the November elections were a referendum on whether or not voters “want a civil war” in a tweet on Tuesday.
The tweet was almost immediately followed by outraged replies maintaining that Griffin was personally threatening violence if Republicans won in the midterms. Many referenced the controversy surrounding a 2017 photo of Griffin posing with a fake blood-covered replica of Trump’s severed head.
“First, Kathy Griffin threatens to assassinate President Trump with her ISIS-inspired photo,” conservative activist Scott Presler tweeted. “Now, she’s threatening a Civil War if Republicans win this November.”
Ignorant people toss around the phrase “Civil War” without really appreciating what that would mean for the country. It would make our current political divide look like child’s play, and not in a good way. Our system of government was created to avert armed conflict among citizens so that disputes could be settled civilly through the ballot box, not the bullet box.
The last Civil War in this country was initiated by Democrats so maybe Griffin has a point. It seems to be the left in the country most upset by the institutions that govern, such as the Supreme Court, and even the United States Senate which many progressives view as an impediment to their agenda due to the filibuster.
Calls for ending the filibuster in favor of straight majority rule and stacking the Supreme Court to undo the 2016 election have all come from prominent Democrats.
Perhaps what Griffin is saying is that if Republicans win in November and attempt to perform their legislative duties, Democrats will revolt in Civil War because they’re denying the election results.
Wouldn’t be the first time Democrats called an election “stolen” when they didn’t like the outcome.
“You tweeted in 2016 that Trump stole an election.”
KJP: “I was waiting for when you were going to ask that question.”
Doocy: “If denying election results is extreme now, why wasn't it then?"
KJP: “That comparison that you made is just ridiculous.”pic.twitter.com/KA8KdaR7S0
