Adults in Charge: Gender Fluid Biden Nuclear Official Charged With Felony

Thank goodness we have top people overseeing the country’s nuclear energy policy. Just imagine the circus it used to be under the whacky Trump administration.

If you don’t recall, the naming of Sam Brinton to a senior post in the Department of Energy was “groundbreaking” for the Biden administration at the time. Brinton considers himself “non-binary” and identifies under a host of other gender-related LGBTQIA+ labels. In other words, based on Brinton’s sexual preference and woke identity, he was awarded a top job in the government to check some diversity boxes. He’s qualified on paper, of course, but that doesn’t mean as much as sexual preference or gender identity nowadays.

Here’s a refresher of Brinton’s greatest fashion hits:

Just under a month ago, Brinton was (quietly) placed on leave from his government post with little explanation as to why he was sent packing. Well, now we know why. Turns out that Brinton is facing felony theft charges for stealing luggage from a baggage claim, ripping the tags off, and taking it with him on another flight. The entire ordeal was caught on surveillance since this was an airport, after all, and now could bring jail time or a hefty fine:

Brinton — who serves as the DOE’s deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition — allegedly took a Vera Bradley suitcase worth $2,325 from the luggage carousel at the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport (MSP) on Sept. 16, according to a criminal complaint filed on Oct. 26 in Minnesota state court and obtained by Fox News Digital. Brinton had traveled from Washington, D.C., to MSP that day.

After the suitcase’s owner alerted police, officers reviewed video surveillance of the carousel and identified Brinton taking the luggage before removing its tag identifying the owner, the court filings stated. Law enforcement observed Brinton using the luggage during at least two other trips to Washington, D.C., on Sept. 18 and Oct. 9.

Then, on Oct. 9, Brinton denied stealing anything when a police officer called to discuss the incident. Brinton confirmed still possessing the suitcase.

This is dumb on so many levels. The kicker here is that since Brinton faces a felony charge, he can kiss a security clearance goodbye and will likely lose the senior position he held in the Energy Department over a decision to steal luggage.

From the description, it sort of makes you wonder how often he may have engaged in acts of theft since he went on with life and wasn’t caught until police finally tracked him down thanks to surveillance footage. In many cases, bags get lost during travel and passengers just write them off and take a payout from the airlines, nobody wastes their time on lost clothing. In this case, however, someone went the extra step to try and figure out why and how the bag disappeared.

Brinton revels in his provocative style and seemed to enjoy the fact that some people find him offensive:

In June, Brinton made headlines after assuming the position in the DOE’s Office of Nuclear Energy as one of the government’s first-ever non-binary officials.

“There’s been a lot of people who are quite upset that don’t think that I am quite as qualified as others,” Brinton told E&E News in October. “I respond with multiple graduate degrees from MIT, a decade of working in nuclear policy and the strongest enthusiasm for working in nuclear waste out of anybody.”

Brinton’s lawyer didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

A felony is a serious crime but given the track record of the Biden administration, Brinton will be back working for the government in some capacity in no time flat.
