Biden’s Open Border Catastrophe Must Be Fixed Now

If this is the calm normalcy promised as the result of a Biden presidency, please give us back the chaos.

The U.S. southern border under management by the Biden administration has been nothing short of an abject failure at a hundred different levels. Whether it’s the ongoing drug crisis as elicit substances like fentanyl flow across the border each day, the human trafficking toll taken on mostly young girls, or the ongoing destruction of America’s public assistance programs, Biden’s open border experiment must come to an end.

Left with little choice but to start deporting illegal migrants en masse out of their states, governors like Texas’ Greg Abbott plopped the issue on the doorsteps of blue-state mayors and elected officials by bussing migrants to so-called “sanctuary” cities around the country. The move, which some called a political stunt at the time, has been successful in finally bringing the issue to a head.

The latest open border disaster story this week comes from Chicago where temporary holding facilities inside O’Hare International Airport are becoming permanent, the Associated Press reports:

Hidden behind a heavy black curtain in one of the nation’s busiest airports is Chicago’s unsettling response to a growing population of asylum-seekers arriving by plane.

Hundreds of migrants, from babies to the elderly, live inside a shuttle bus center at O’Hare International Airport’s Terminal 1. They sleep on cardboard pads on the floor and share airport bathrooms. A private firm monitors their movements.

Like New York and other cities, Chicago has struggled to house asylum-seekers, slowly moving people out of temporary spaces and into shelters and, in the near future, tents. But Chicago’s use of airports is unusual, having been rejected elsewhere, and highlights the city’s haphazard response to the crisis. The practice also has raised concerns about safety and the treatment of people fleeing violence and poverty.

“It was supposed to be a stop-and-go place,” said Vianney Marzullo, one of the few volunteers at O’Hare. “It’s very concerning. It is not just a safety matter, but a public health matter.”

Chicago officials are at a loss as to how they can absorb Biden’s birder crisis into their existing public infrastructure. Put simply, they can’t.

This is a situation that could be largely curtailed overnight with a policy change from the Biden administration.

The border has always been somewhat chaotic but was far more controlled under the presidency of Donald Trump. Building the wall was a great campaign plank and remains a necessary physical deterrent. However, it was the “remain-in-Mexico” policy and other initiatives that cut off the flow of migrants at the source and made the border far more manageable than it is today.

The issue has now deteriorated to the point where prominent Democrats are openly attacking Biden for his dereliction of duty and demanding a policy change.

Some of these dyed-in-the-wool Democratic officials, like New York Governor Kathy Hochul, a once-welcoming figure to illegal immigration, are now singing a different tune. New York City and other regions of New York State have been dealing with a growing illegal migrant crisis. Erie County, in the western part of the state, has watched as crime and sexual assaults have risen directly related to the migrant crisis.

Just recently, Hochul admitted that the border was “too open” and something needs to change immediately, per the New York Post:

The migrant crisis in New York is so bad that even Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul is ramping up her attacks on US border policies, demanding “a limit on who can come across’’ and more agents to nab illegals.

Hochul targeted Congress in comments Sunday but still risked the wrath of the Biden administration as it grapples with the crisis wreaking mayhem in the Big Apple and across the country.

“It is too open right now,’’ Hochul flatly told CBS’s “Face the Nation’’ of the country’s southern border with Mexico — where a record-setting 260,000-plus migrants crossed over just last month.

“We want [Congress] to have a limit on who can come across the border,’’ said the governor, who has been criticized in the past for going too easy on the White House over the debacle.

“People coming from all over the world are finding their way through, simply saying they need asylum, and the majority of them seem to be ending up in the streets of New York, and that is a real problem for New York City,” she said.

Laws already limit who can come across the border, there’s nothing Congress needs to do and Hochul knows that. She’s trying to chastise both sides but in reality, the blame stops at the President’s desk. Hochul is being dishonest when she blames anyone other than Joe Biden for this mess. The border is open because Joe Biden wants it open.

Immigration law hasn’t changed between the Trump presidency and the Biden presidency, just the type of enforcement and rhetoric coming out of the White House.

New York officials are flummoxed, Chicago officials are dumbfounded, and former “sanctuary cities” all over the country are realizing that reaping what you sow sometimes bites you in the rear.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams recently said he can’t see an end to this crisis saying quite literally it will destroy his city.

Then, there’s this story from Minnesota with details almost too gruesome to mention. As reported by local news in the city of Bemidji, an 11-year-old girl was abducted and then repeatedly sexually assaulted at the hands of nearly a dozen men, all living in the country illegally:

For Bemidji residents, there are more questions than answers right now after police announced Thursday that 11 illegal immigrants were processed at a home where multiple minor girls were allegedly r-ped.

Just one person, 22-year-old Oscar Ernesto Luna of Mission, Texas, has been charged so far. He’s facing one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, which comes with a maximum penalty of up to 30 years in prison.

One of the girls was “bloody and unconscious” in a closet. There were “four Mexican men present” who r-ped the victim. One of the men went by the name “Panda” and had “lots of tattoos,” including a teardrop on his face.

Panda “whipped” one of the girls down the stairs after she helped the victim escape by untying her.

The charging documents describe substantial injuries to the victim, who said another girl who was “chained up” had “the same thing happen to her.”

Read the full description if you can stomach it.

That is Joe Biden’s America right now.

One where criminals are treated better than victims, Biden’s open border is leaving a trail of human destruction, and the White House continues to enable this disaster each day it refuses to make a policy change.

The open border experiment must end and must end immediately.
