When you’ve lost Chicago residents on the issue of border security and immigration, what does the Biden administration have left?
Take a gander at the first 60 seconds or so of this clip and it’s pretty easy to understand why Democrats are hemorrhaging support on the issue of mass illegal immigration:
Galewood community of Chicago voted for Joe Biden in 2020 by a whopping 87.5%

The sanctuary city chickens have come home to roost in Democrat-run cities around the country. The border situation, under the Biden administration, has created an ever-expanding crisis for cities and states on the hook for millions of dollars in taxpayer funds to help with housing, food, and medical care of newly arriving illegal immigrants.
The city residents in the clip above are pissed off, and rightly so. As the woman explains in the first minute of the clip, residents do not want their taxes going up to support people who shouldn’t be in the country to begin with. They don’t want their public spaces and parks taken over by illegals bringing crime into their neighborhoods. They also don’t want to be told by their elected leaders about being a “sanctuary city” and, therefore, they need to shut up about it.
On the other hand, the city of Chicago voted to elect Brandon Johnson in April, a left-wing Marxist mayor so maybe they deserve to see some of the consequences of their actions. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink. Sometimes the crisis has to reach epic proportions before even the most ardent open-border Democrats wake up and realize they’re getting devoured by their own policies and ruining their own cities.
Ironically, six years ago, Chicago businesses were closed to protest the border security policies of the Trump administration, per the Chicago Tribune in February 2017:
(February 17, 2017) Numerous businesses — including restaurants, dental offices, construction sites and grocery stores — either closed for the day or let employees take the day off to support A Day Without Immigrants, a loosely organized protest in several cities across the country that could represent the first salvo in a long fight. High-profile restaurants including The Berghoff and four establishments owned by Chicago chef Rick Bayless were among those that closed.
The shoe is on the other foot now as residents and businesses are getting what they asked for, and they can’t live with it. Democrats intentionally confuse the issue of immigration and illegal immigration, which are very different things. A controlled immigration system that is efficient and allows people into the country through a legal process is fine, everyone almost universally supports that. The situation we’re in now, however, is a disaster for everyone, especially taxpaying citizens.
On the same topic, a new poll from TIPP shows just how underwater Democrats are on the issue of immigration and border security as a whole, it’s a bloodbath:
With a record surge of illegal immigrants into the U.S., I&I/TIPP asked the 1,378 voters who responded to the national online poll, which was taken from Sept. 27-29: “How would you describe the current situation at the United States’ southern border with Mexico?”
The poll, which was taken from Sept. 27-29 and has a margin of error of +/-2.7 percentage points, then provided five potential responses for participants: “crisis,” “a major problem,” “a minor problem,” “not a problem,” and “not sure.”
The response was clear and unequivocal. 72% of Americans called it either a crisis or a major problem. Just 22% said it was either a minor problem or not a problem. Another 6% said they were “Not sure.”
It’s not just Republicans driving these numbers, every demographic says the issue is a massive issue and it’s only getting worse. The sick part is that Joe Biden created this problem by immediately undoing Trump’s immigration policies which were keeping things under control.
Pressed further on who is to blame for the current mess, Joe Biden won, hands down:
I&I/TIPP followed up with a second question: “To what extent do you believe the Biden administration’s policies are responsible for the current situation at the Southern border?” The possible answers were: “Very responsible,” “Somewhat responsible,” “Not very responsible,” “Not at all responsible,” and “Not sure.”
Overall, 63% said President Biden was either “very responsible” (40%) or “somewhat responsible (23%), while just just 28% said he was either “not very responsible” (18%) or “not at all responsible” (10%). Another 9% said they weren’t sure.
The question is when and if Democrats will pay the price electorally for this problem hoisted on their own voters. Will residents of Chicago and New York wise up to the fact their leaders couldn’t care less about taxpaying citizens while they welcome illegal immigrants to their cities by bus and plane load?
I wouldn’t hold my breath on reforming the blue city cesspools like Chicago. However, in other tight races heading into next year, Democrats have an illegal immigration problem and they only have themselves to blame.
