Democratic Convention Kicks off in Chicago as Kamalamentum Slows Down

The Democratic National Convention begins today in Chicago and will culminate in Vice President Kamala Harris accepting her party’s nomination for president on Thursday.

The nomination process itself, which was done virtually to avoid embarrassment, already happened. In that sense, this week is nothing more than a long infomercial for the Democratic Party which already pre-selected its nominees by forcibly removing Joe Biden from the ticket. Quite the celebration of democracy itself.

And, with that, the week will begin with the former nominee addressing the crowd tonight so Democrats can get this over with and stop giving their unpopular sitting president a national platform, according to NewsNation:

As the Democratic National Convention kicks off Monday in Chicago, President Joe Biden is preparing to give a key speech that is expected to feature his administration’s accomplishments, Democratic priorities and handing over the party to Vice President Kamala Harris.

Biden is expected to take the podium Monday night, but he won’t be doing so as the Democratic Party’s nominee. The president dropped out of the 2024 election last month after tremendous pressure from delegates in his own party.

Biden’s speech Monday is expected to tie Harris to the Biden administration’s accomplishments, which the president touts as the infrastructure bill, the Inflation Reduction Act and a reduction in the costs of key prescription drugs for those on Medicare.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate how far Joe Biden has been pushed down the ladder. The man was about to be nominated to run for his second term when the long knives of Nancy Pelosi, and many others, came out to take him down. Now, he’ll be relegated to the first night of the convention which is also the least-watched night.

In other words, Democrats want Biden’s primetime speech as far away from Kamala Harris’ primetime speech as they can get it. As for tying Harris to Biden’s so-called accomplishments, by all means, please go right ahead. In the meantime, it seems like the Harris campaign is trying to cut the cord from the Biden presidency altogether.

Also, if you had any doubt that abortion was the holiest of sacraments in Democratic Party politics, Planned Parenthood has announced it will be offering free “medication abortion” with a mobile health clinic parked outside the DNC, according to Fox News:

Planned Parenthood is offering more than a free T-shirt or sticker at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) this coming week — the organization will offer free vasectomies, medication abortion, and emergency contraception.

Planned Parenthood Great Rivers of St. Louis announced in a X post that a bus is headed to the DNC in Chicago on Aug. 19-20 to offer free services.

“Here we come, Chicago! Our mobile health clinic will be in the West Loop with @ChiAbortionFund & @TheWienerCircle Aug 19-20, providing FREE vasectomies & medication abortion,” the post said. “EC will also be available for free without an appointment.”

No surprise here since it’s not like Democrats can run on the economy or foreign policy, they’re getting destroyed on these issues in even the most favorable of polls. For Kamala Harris, it’s all abortion all the time, and little else. Also, Trump is a threat to democracy or something.

The odds market has also tightened back to even after giving Harris a ten-point bounce earlier this month. The early honeymoon phase for Harris is over and she didn’t help herself by releasing some whacky left-wing economic plans and talking about her love for price controls:

This week will be crucial for Democrats to try and build on whatever they think they gained by ditching Joe Biden. In reality, Kamala Harris and her insanely left-wing Vice President pick, Tim Walz, are empty suits in terms of serious policy proposals.

It’s hard to build on a house of cards when your top card is probably drinking her way through the process.
