It’s like drinking from a firehose keeping up with new cabinet appointments in the quickly-forming Trump administration.
The latest round of announcements brings us someone entirely new and from well outside the military-industrial complex to head the Department of Defense. In a brilliant and unconventional move, President-elect Trump has selected Pete Hegseth as the next Secretary of Defense.
As a Fox News host for 8 years and a decorated combat vet before that, Hegseth has been an outspoken critic of the woke mind virus infecting the military and all the issues it brings along with it.
The New York Post gives a solid rundown of Hegseth’s background:
President-elect Donald Trump stunned political observers Tuesday night by nominating Fox News personality Pete Hegseth for secretary of defense.
“Pete has spent his entire life as a Warrior for the Troops, and for the Country,” Trump, 78, said in a statement. “Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First. With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice – Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down.”
The choice of Hegseth is an unorthodox pick from a field of contenders that included Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), who earned favor in military circles for working closely with the Pentagon on defense legislation; House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Ala.); and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, a Democrat-turned-Republican and an Army National Guard member like Hegseth.
Hegseth, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been with the cable news giant since 2014, most recently as a co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend.”
In 2003, prior to joining the military, Hegseth graduated from Princeton University. Ten years later, he received a master of public policy degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
A Minnesota native, Hegeseth has received two Bronze Stars for his service overseas as well as two Army Commendation Medals.
Perhaps there’s nothing better than hearing from the man himself describe the issues he sees as top leadership embraces everything woke at the expense of military readiness:
🚨NEW: Newly appointed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on reforming US military leadership:
Anyone "involved in the woke sh*t has got to go…you have to reestablish that trust by putting in no-nonsense warfighters in those positions who aren't going to cater to the socially… pic.twitter.com/9181gOVp2q

Man, what a breath of fresh air that is.
The military should not be a place to experiment with pronouns, critical race theory, or other insane woke garbage that distracts from the sole mission of defending the United States from foreign attack. One of our biggest problems right now is the lack of recruitment and for obvious reasons. Much of the retention loss started during the days of the Biden administration’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate which saw thousands of service members kicked out for non-compliance.
Since that time, fewer and fewer young people have decided to sign up leading to a deficit in recruiting seen across almost every branch. The other part of the issue is military culture which is slowly turning into something that resembles a woke tech company where transgender pronouns are required and soldiers are treated as oppressors based on their skin color as they sit through required sensitivity training seminars.
As Hegseth notes in the video above, the military should be focused on one thing and one thing only. If you desire to be a war fighter, then please, sign up and join the ranks. Beyond that, everything else is a distraction.
The establishment, according to the Associated Press, is “bewildered” by the selection:
The news was met with bewilderment and worry among many in Washington as Trump passed on a number of established national security heavy-hitters and chose an Army National Guard captain well known in conservative circles as a co-host of Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends Weekend.”
Military officials said the choice came out of the blue. A senior military officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media, said Hegseth’s selection is raising concerns about whether he has the practical experience to manage a large department with an enormous budget.
The Defense Department has a budget exceeding $800 billion, with about 1.3 million active-duty troops and another 1.4 million in the National Guard, Reserves and civilian employees based worldwide.
Almost on queue, here come the anonymous sources within the Pentagon “raising questions” about whether Hegseth can do the job or not.
Well, to that end, the people leaking these anonymous complaints are the same people who botched the Afghanistan withdrawal leading to the deaths of 13 soldiers due to terrible planning and poor execution.
Hegseth is a phenomenal pick. Hopefully, he can survive the onslaught that’s about to come his way from the entrenched DC swamp.
Here’s Scott Jennings slaying the entire CNN panel as he defends Hegseth against the status quo “insiders” running the Defense Department:
🔥 Scott Jennings just went to bat for Pete Hegseth, defending him from this CNN panel who literally EXPLODED over Trump appointing him.
“The American people voted AGAINST a Washington pick.”
They’ll never learn.
