It’s nothing personal against Matt Gaetz, but the dude has some baggage. Not that baggage should disqualify him from the Attorney General position, he’s innocent until proven guilty, but there may be better options on the table.
One can’t help but wonder if the Gaetz selection was a ploy to begin with and some ulterior motives are at play. Either way, Trump will get the fighters that he needs running the top agencies to support his agenda.
With the reported news that Gaetz took himself out of consideration., President-elect Trump named former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as his next choice to run the Department of Justice.
While Democrats hated Gaetz, many of them seem to outright fear Bondi as a more “competent” and more lethal option, according to Fox News:
College professor and MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson warned that President-Elect Donald Trump’s new pick to lead the Justice Department should spark “fear” among the left because she could actually execute his agenda.
Johnson told MSNBC host Ari Melber that this is bad news for those concerned about Trump.
“Occasionally, attorneys general try to behave like they are not the personal lawyer of the President of the United States. That is completely out the window. Pam Bondi is exactly what I was saying in the last segment that we should all fear, because she’s competent,” he said.
“We may not agree with her ideologically, but she actually knows how to do this job,” Johnson told Melber, adding, “So if anyone on the Democratic side or anyone who cared about liberty or justice was thinking ‘Well maybe Matt Gaetz will screw this up and that will give us time,’ no. Pam Bondi knows what she is doing.”
He went on to tell the news host that her association with Florida’s government indicates she knows how to use state power to accomplish conservative agendas.
Bondi will take this job, and her confirmation hearings, by storm. She’s an impressive figure with an impressive resume and is deeply loyal to the MAGA agenda.
Unlike Gaetz who ran into four unmovable Senators, Bondi should have no problem getting confirmed and cleaning house from day one.
Speaking on CNN, Scott Jennings extolled the virtues of the Bondi nomination as a “massive upgrade”:
Trump made the pragmatic and correct strategic move pivoting to @PamBondi for AG. I don’t know a Republican anywhere who doesn’t love Pam, and her record and experience are exactly what we need. My reaction on @cnn pic.twitter.com/MKMRe8Ll41

Here’s Bondi on the campaign trail with Trump recently calling out morons like Mark Cuban:
