As one observer noted on X, picking Kash Patel to run the FBI makes Matt Gaetz look like John Ashcroft in comparison.
That’s nothing against Patel other than that he’s a barn-burner of a pick to head an agency that has damaged itself almost irreparably with a good portion of the American public.
There was a lot of back-and-forth behind the scenes of this selection since rooting out corruption at the Department of Justice is almost meaningless without also rooting out the partisan actors in the upper echelons of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This is the agency that fostered creeps like Andrew McCabe, Peter Strozk, and Lisa Page. These were so-called public servants who took it upon themselves to use their power within the FBI to try and prevent Donald Trump from becoming President in 2016. Strozk wrote in text form about the “insurance policy” that would prevent Trump from winning the presidency. If you recall, McCabe was named a liar by the DOJ Inspector General on four separate occasions. Lisa Page? Well, she was Strozk’s mistress and fellow conspirator.
In short, the FBI was dirty during the Obama years and still filled with anti-Trump actors during the first Trump administration. Not much has changed except rearranging the chairs under the Biden administration which means it’s time to clean house and take names.
Enter Kash Patel:
When someone tells you Kash Patel is unqualified, be sure to show them his resume.

In case anyone wondered what the disgraced Andrew McCabe thinks about Trump naming Patel? Well, CNN dug him out from the rock he’s been under to find out:
The fact that Andrew McCabe feels Kash Patel as FBI Director would “disrupt,” “dismantle,” & “distract” the FBI
speaks volumes that Kash is a good pick.
Let me remind you that McCabe signed off on the phony FISA warrant to surveil Trump adviser Carter Page. pic.twitter.com/EA6YGNVHye

McCabe has no self-awareness or shame over the fact that he helped run the FBI’s reputation into the ground. The fact that he dislikes the Patel pick is itself reason alone to confirm him and put him in charge today, with no time wasted. It’s almost the best endorsement Patel could receive.
Here’s Patel in his own words from a recent interview explaining how he would approach handling the FBI and turning it back into the nation’s premier law enforcement department rather than the partisan domestic surveillance agency that it is now:
Kash Patel: "I'd shut down the FBI Hoover Building on day one and reopen it the next day as a museum of the Deep State. Then, I’d take the 7,000 employees that work in that building and send them across America to chase down criminals. Go be cops. You're cops—go be cops."

Patel is from the right cut in terms of an outsider’s perspective on the rotting DC swamp. He served during the first Trump administration and will be hard for the Senate to vote down. Patel has the fire of a Matt Gaetz but is well-liked and doesn’t bring along the personal baggage.
Exit laugh from Eric Daugherty: Democrats usually pride themselves in spreading diversity. Will they vote against the first person of color to head the FBI? You know they will.
There will be nothing funnier than forcing the Democrats who run Wikipedia put into Kash Patel's bio: "First person of color to serve as the director of the FBI." pic.twitter.com/vbOMvityWA
