With the awful terrorist acts unfolding in London over the weekend which followed the terrorist bombing of a concert in Manchester just days earlier, President Trump is using the focus on terrorism to renew his call for a travel ban on six predominately Muslim countries.
The “travel ban” executive order is headed to the Supreme Court, and the President is actually attacking his own Justice Department on twitter for some reason. Here is the President’s series of tweets this morning on the subject:

That is all rather perplexing considering that Trump, as President, essentially runs the Justice Department and his Attorney General answers to him. Why the need to hash this out publicly rather than a quiet phone conversation is beyond me.
More from Fox News:
A Department of Justice spokesperson declined to comment on Trump’s tweets.
Trump’s tweets come in the wake of Saturday’s deadly London attacks, and an increasing string of Islamist assaults around the globe.
Both versions of the Trump travel ban prompted nationwide protests and fierce Democratic opposition. The ban’s themselves were “watered down” versions of Trump’s campaign proposal of a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States.
The President is also responding to his critics regarding his rhetoric on Islamic terrorism, such as Sadiq Kahn, the Mayor of London:
President Trump today resumed his attacks on London Mayor Sadiq Khan in the wake of this weekend’s terrorist attack at the London Bridge and Borough Market that left seven people dead and dozens more injured.
“Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement,” Trump wrote on Twitter this morning.
Trump had first criticized Khan Sunday, tweeting, “At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is “no reason to be alarmed!”
A spokesperson for Khan Sunday called Trump’s remark “ill-informed” and said it took the mayor’s words out of context.
“Just like terrorists are constantly evolving and finding new ways to disrupt us, harm us, attack us, the police and experts and all of us are finding new ways to keep us safe,” Khan said in a Sunday statement. “Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days. No reason to be alarmed.”
Going after terrorism is Trump’s bead and butter, and attacking anyone who critiques his rhetoric is the plate on which that bread and butter is served. However, undercutting his own Justice Department over the travel ban isn’t going to help him prevail at the Supreme Court. In fact, it may do just the opposite.
