After four days of speeches culminating in the nomination of former Vice President Joe Biden as the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee, it’s now the Republican Party’s turn in the primetime spotlight. Night one of the Republican National Convention kicks off tonight in a mostly virtual format, following the move by the DNC to practically eliminate all in-person events due to Coronavirus. The RNC will still be holding some “business” events in Charlotte, but nothing open to the public with just a limited number of delegates seated for roll call.

Day 1 Speaking Schedule (Primetime)
Primetime speaking slots are between 8:30 pm and 11 pm ET, but no specific speaking time has been provided by the Republican National Committee. The RNC opted to start their night of primetime a half-hour earlier than the DNC to try and capture more audience.
The Trump campaign will be leaning heavier on non-politicians to fill the speaking lineup, as evident below from the list.
- Senator Time Scott (South Carolina)
- House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (LA-1)
- Representative Matt Gaetz (FL-1)
- Representative Jim Jordan (OH-4)
- Former Ambassador to United Nations Nikki Haley
- Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel
- Georgia State Representative Vernon Jones (91st District)
