Biden Approval Dips to Record Low in RealClearPolitics Polling Average

Maybe it’s just one poll giving Biden bad numbers or a handful? Actually, it’s the entire basket of public polling that puts Biden’s job approval numbers in the dumpster according to the much-revered RealClearPolitics (RCP) polling average.

The RCP “poll of polls” is like averaging out the numbers to account for extreme highs and lows to find something of a more “accurate” number, but the term “accurate” is used loosely with polling.

Regardless, how does a president recover from this downward trend being captured by every major mainstream polling organization and still intend to run for a second term in 2024?

That 38% is a new low despite ongoing pressure from the White House and others to insist that Joe Biden can only do so much to improve gas prices or inflation, it’s all Vladimir Putin’s fault!

What about the abortion backlash Democrats are counting on to hedge midterm losses and make Biden more popular? Well, the first part could have a measurable effect, but it’s unlikely that Biden somehow benefits from the ruling as voters know he’s on the way out. Furthermore, the ardent pro-choice crowd has been fired up since the leaked opinion at the very beginning of May and that response has been baked into polls for weeks.

Anyone disgusted by the ruling that was leaked in May was likely already voting Democrat in November.

If Biden’s approval keeps dropping into the thirties, Republicans will see a truly historic wave in November, the abortion issue could be moot. By the time the midterms roll around, some of the frothing outrage over Roe will subside and some of the mob will be educated that they can still get abortions in California, New York, and plenty of other states where nothing changes.

The bigger point is that Biden keeps slidin’ further and further down the approval hole with no end in sight.

You don’t hit the mid-thirties without losing independents and a sizable chunk of your own party. As we touched on yesterday, a large majority of Democrats know the country is on the wrong track and Biden has proven feckless in addressing it.

Where does the Biden-Harris administration go from here? It’s almost as if they’re observers on the sideline watching things happen and are unwilling or unable to get involved to affect a positive outcome. Every policy Biden has championed, typically doing the opposite of whatever President Trump did, has been a failure.

Not even the stilted and one-sided January 6 committee can save Biden from the economic reality he created. Democrats are going to need a miracle in November to avoid a historic rout. So far, Biden has proven to be anything but a miracle worker.
