Full Video: Trump Announces 2024 Presidential Plans From Mar-a-Lago (Nov. 15)

As promised by former president Donald Trump during his recent rally in Dayton, a special announcement will be delivered tonight from his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. The speculation, of course, is that Trump will be announcing his intention to seek the 2024 Republican nomination for President.

The announcement comes at a tumultuous time for the GOP as the finger-pointing continues over a lackluster performance in last week’s midterm elections. With several other Trump-endorsed candidates going down in defeat since Election Day, such as Adam Laxalt in the Nevada Senate race, and Kari Lake in the Arizona Governor’s race, Trump has faced criticism over his decision to plow forward with a 2024 campaign announcement.

Despite calls from some for Trump to delay or defer his announcement until after the Georgia runoff election concludes in December, the plans appear to be moving forward full steam ahead:

Despite a worse-than-expected Election Day, a Georgia runoff, nervous advisers, and even a hurricane, Donald Trump is currently full-steam ahead on announcing his candidacy for president next Tuesday.

The announcement, slated for 9 p.m. EST at his Mar-a-Lago compound, will be full of MAGA pomp and circumstance, according to a source familiar with the event, and is meant to reignite a demoralized GOP base.

“The president is going to make a special announcement on Tuesday,” a person familiar with the decision told The Daily Beast on Thursday.

Trump’s been expected to formally declare himself a candidate next week since Monday night, when he teased his decision at a rally for then-Ohio Senate candidate—now Senator-elect—J.D. Vance.

While some races are still being decided from last Tuesday, it’s clear that many of Trump’s handpicked candidates didn’t fare well in the general election. Helping candidates squeak by in a divided primary yielded a divided party on Election Day and seemed to energize Democrats eager to vote against Trump and vote to express their disapproval over the reversal of Roe v Wade.

While some Trump advisors have expressed a desire to delay the announcement, others in the orbit have stated that walking back the plans would signal capitulation, something Trump is unlikely to tolerate:

It’s not that other advisers don’t see the wisdom in holding off. It’s just that, they say, backtracking now would signal “weakness” to a field of potential 2024 rivals and foes alike.

“It’s hard to hold off at this point because it shows weakness. But there’s also a chance he could come up with some reason,” an adviser told The Daily Beast.

Trump stated plainly he would be delivering the announcement tonight and any change to the plan could be viewed as an admission that Trump hurt the GOP’s chances last week. Moving forward with plans as scheduled seems like the most obvious path but that could always change.

Trump is good at altering plans last-minute so anything is possible. There are expected to be around 1,000 people in attendance with some 250 additional media and journalists as well.

Stay tuned starting around 8 pm ET for RSBN coverage above with the announcement expected around 9 pm ET.
