Reminder From DeSantis: ’15 Days to Slow the Spread’ Was a Big, Fat Lie

This week should serve as a form of remembrance each year.

It was around this time, in 2020, when the notion of “15 days to slow the spread” was born. Rather than days, of course, the movement to “slow” an airborne virus turned into months and years of turmoil and cruel infliction of emotional, economic, and punitive damage toward a free citizenry. It’s a reminder that the next time the government, at any level, tells you to give up your rights for some small, pre-determined amount of time, politely tell them to shove their suggestion in the appropriate orifice.

We all lived through it with daily press conferences and constant fear that the next shoe was bound to drop any minute now. After the “15 days” we were promised, it turned into months and arguments over whether children should ever be allowed to play outside with their friends in the future. In short, it was insanity that should never be visited upon a free society ever again.

Here’s a press conference from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Thursday in which he extols the need to continue seeking and searching for all the ways the government and health bureaucracy failed during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic. Whether it’s officials like Dr. Anthony Fauci who silenced the debate on the virus origins, the efficacy of masks, and eventually the freedom to avoid a mandated government vaccination, it all needs to be investigated and exposed:

The key theme of Covid in 2020 was “control,” and nothing more. It didn’t matter if the advice and guidance didn’t make logical sense. It didn’t matter if masks were mandated but you could take them off and sit next to each while eating, the virus doesn’t attack during lunch, apparently, It didn’t matter if children were less susceptible to Covid-19 than the seasonal flu, they had to stay home and away from their friends indefinitely.

Churches and schools were closed while liquor stores and Walmarts remained open. One thing was safe but a similar thing was unsafe.

Anyone who could work from home was told to do so while delivery drivers and “essential” workers continue on in difficult environments with stupid rules in place to their lives harder while they catered to everyone else.

Perhaps, however, the most egregious hypocrisy of 2020 came when health officials and “experts” told everyone that marching with thousands of people in the street for Black Lives Matter protests was perfectly fine from a health perspective, just don’t visit your relatives for Thanksgiving, that would be dangerous:

DeSantis has elaborated at other times on the topic as well, pointing out that the people in charge felt as if the lockdowns were an experiment on the American public:

There’s no coincidence DeSantis continues beating this drum and no coincidence he brought it up this year and made a point to hammer it home.

Former President Trump bears some responsibility for turning over the federal government to the likes of Fauci and Birx. Trump can’t be entirely blamed, however, since he was being told by people like Fauci that if he didn’t shut down the country, millions of people would die in weeks, a farcical claim, to be sure, but nobody wanted to be responsible for the worst case scenario at the time.

Trump, at some points, was even antagonist toward DeSantis and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp for opening their states much earlier than federal guidance would’ve allowed.

Truly none of our elected leaders made all the right calls. Even DeSantis early on in the process bought into the lockdowns and there were ridiculous arguments over beach closures. He shortly wised up and started pushing heavily in the direction of freedom since, like millions of others, he saw the writing on the wall regarding a never-ending cycle of fear and control. The government bureaucracies coupled with pharmaceutical companies were drunk on power and they weren’t giving it up without a fight.

Never forget the “15 days to slow the spread” as the greatest example of a bait-and-switch ever pulled on a willing and compliant public.
