While the main action isn’t until Tuesday, a small handful of states held Republican caucuses today. Former President Donald Trump swept all three contests netting every delegate at stake. Here’s a brief rundown of today’s GOP caucus results.
Michigan GOP Caucus Results
While Michigan Republicans voted in a primary a few days back, most of the delegates were set to be awarded at the party convention Saturday via a caucus system. The results weren’t even close with Trump gaining all 39 delegates at stake:
Missouri GOP Caucus Results
Meanwhile, Missouri Republicans also held a caucus today and the results closely mirrored those of Michigan. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley managed to garner zero votes in Missouri giving Trump all 54 delegates at stake:
Idaho GOP Caucus Results
Finally, Idaho Republicans had their shot today as well to put a stamp on the 2024 GOP primary. Once again, a lopsided result in Trump’s favor giving him all 32 delegates at stake:
Despite Haley’s claim that her candidacy provides Republicans an “escape hatch” from Donald Trump, few seem inclined to take it. There simply is no appetite for Haley as the nominee in 2024. At this rate, she’s damaging herself possibly beyond repair for 2028 as well.
Given these weekend results, Super Tuesday will wind up being a bloodbath for Haley as Trump dominates all over the map. Granted, the contests today were caucuses, a format which typically favors Trump as most attendees are staunch activists, but that’s where the heart of the party is.
On Sunday, Republicans in the District of Columbia will also weigh in before North Dakota on Monday. The damn finally breaks with Super Tuesday on March 5 with nearly two-dozen states on deck.
