The Wilmington rally will be the first major event Trump has held since the start of the sham “hush money” trial in New York, according to Spectrum Local News:

North Carolina has emerged as a battleground state ahead of the presidential election this fall. The winner of the election will depend on the voters in a handful of swing states, and North Carolina looks to be in play for 2024.

The rally will be at Aero Center Wilmington at the Wilmington International Airport, the same spot the former president held a rally in 2022. Doors will open for the event at 3 p.m. and the rally is expected to begin at 7 p.m., according to the New Hanover County Republican Party.

Trump has spent most of the week so far in a Manhattan courtroom, where jury selection began in the trial accusing him of covering up hush money payments to a former adult film star. Prosecutors charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records.

The Biden Justice Department passed on prosecuting this case because there simply was nothing to prosecute. That didn’t stop Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg from taking another shot at assembling a kangaroo court and trying to win some kind of conviction even if it’s likely to be overturned on appeal.

For a more thorough examination of the trial, check Brianna Lyman’s recent write-up in the Federalist.

As always, follow the Trump rally schedule for details on all upcoming events.
