In what universe did it seem like a good idea to let Vice President Kamala Harris agree to an interview with a responsible journalist on Fox News? Answering questions isn’t her thing, per se. She’s more of an aspirational leader in the sense that taking accountability for her previous political record is not required when seeking higher office.
If you missed the interview, here’s the entire 26 minutes which is the maximum amount of time the Harris team would allow this torture to persist.

In the waning weeks of the campaign, it’s becoming clear the Harris campaign is grasping in every direction hoping to claw away votes one at a time. The decision to appear on Fox News surely didn’t come lightly but it also didn’t come with any attached wisdom.
Harris was entirely ill-prepared to answer any of Baier’s questions, but then again, wasn’t that the strategy? Every response was couched with how bad Donald Trump is and how every issue is actually his fault. It’s as if the Biden-Harris administration never existed.
When speaking afterward, Baier noted how odd the entire setup was and how it seemed the campaign was doing everything it could to cut the time short, reports Newsweek:
Fox News host Bret Baier was caught off guard by Kamala Harris and said she may have been “icing the kicker” by appearing later than scheduled for her interview with the network on Wednesday.
Baier also questioned whether Harris went into the interview seeking “a viral moment” that would be shared on other networks and social media, adding: “I think she may have gotten that.”
Democratic presidential nominee Harris took part in a somewhat tempestuous interview with Baier on Wednesday, during which she discussed immigration, transgender healthcare and said Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump had “talked about turning the American military on the American people.”
Harris’s decision to appeal on Fox News, a conservative leaning network, came as polling indicated the 2024 presidential election is too close to call in a number of key swing states.
The vice president’s campaign team has reportedly also been discussing an appearance on Joe Rogan’s popular podcast as part of a strategy to get Harris a hearing beyond her core support.
Based on how poorly her performance went with Baier, the Rogan appearance is probably off the table for now. On the other hand, what does Kamala Harris really have to lose at this point? She’s underperforming every previous metric in every swing state compared to Joe Biden in 2020 or Hillary Clinton in 2016.
In the end, Harris has always been her own worst enemy.

The real takeaway from the Baier-Harris interview is the total lack of accountability for anything consequential. If you want more of the same, then vote for the new Harris administration where no one is responsible for anything. Ever.
To call it a trainwreck is almost being charitable since it’s not as if the expectations were all that high. Harris dodged every question, evaded her previous policy positions, and painted Trump as the bad guy, the only play she has left in the book.
