Hegseth Should Be Confirmed as Defense Secretary for Two Big Reasons

The orders went out from the Pentagon and other parts of the Democratic-military-industrial-complex that Pete Hegseth, Donald Trump’s nominee to head the Department of Defense, must be destroyed.

Hegseth, a decorated combat veteran and longtime critic of woke military policies that are dumping morale and causing a recruitment shortfall, is being attacked on all fronts by left-wing media and sources within the government.

Almost in unison, several media outlets dropped headlines on Friday about a sexual assault investigation involving Hegseth back in 2017. It doesn’t matter that investigators found “no evidence” for the claims and no charges were ever filed. The headline damage must be inflicted, as Eric Daugherty reported on X:

CBS News, as if it wasn’t already, has become a constant source of disinformation and clickbait headlines attacking anything and everything Donald Trump does. Keep in mind, this is the newsroom that edited Kamala Harris’ terrible answers on 60 Minutes to make her sound less moronic.

The difference between now and even ten years ago is that everyone expects it and knows it when they see fake headlines created solely to destroy people who pose a threat to the establishment.

Did you know Hegseth has white supremacy tattoos? Of course you didn’t, because he doesn’t. However, the Associated Press wants you to know that Hegseth has a Christian symbol tattooed on his chest which might mean he’s a white supremacist, you can’t make this stuff up:

This is the playbook Democrats and the media (one and the same) have used for years to tear people down and attack enemies of the administrative state.

Hegseth addressed some of his various tattoos and how they’ve led to discrimination on a recent podcast appearance:

This line of attack is why Donald Trump won resoundingly on November 5. Americans are immune to media lies and attacks in a way they weren’t before Trump entered the political fray. For decades, Republicans played softball on everything for fear that a hit piece by CBS News could derail their political future.

No longer is that the case and Trump has proven that throughout this campaign by knocking down one false narrative after another.

This brings us to the two big reasons why Hegseth needs to be confirmed to lead the Department of Defense.

For starters, the media hates him which is a big scoring point for America. All of these so-called news outlets whether it’s CBS or the Associated Press get their marching orders from the Democratic Party and anonymous sources within the government. They dutifully tap out their words by copying Democratic Party press releases, sometimes verbatim, as a means to drive a news cycle and achieve an objective.

If the media says Hegseth is bad, that means he’s probably one of the best people for the job.

The second big reason, as detailed by The Federalist, is that Pentagon insiders are incensed someone from outside the club might soon be in charge:

In its Tuesday night hit piece on Hegseth, authors Joe Gould, Robbie Gramer, Paul McLeary, Connor O’Brien, and Jack Detsch published critical remarks from an anonymous defense lobbyist, who gave the game away by lamenting how the Trump nominee isn’t embedded in D.C.’s military-industrial complex.

“Who the f-ck is this guy?” the source reportedly said. The lobbyist wanted “someone who actually has an extensive background in defense. That would be a good start.”

The authors went on to fearmonger that Hegseth’s nomination “will do little to quell fears inside the Pentagon” that the former president will select a defense secretary who agrees with his agenda — something presidents have been doing for centuries. They also noted, “Trump’s campaign trail rhetoric has primed fears that his second term could see a swift and divisive overhaul at the Pentagon.”

Got that? The left’s problem with Hegseth isn’t that he’s a Fox News commentator. It’s that he’s someone from outside the incestuous government-defense contractor system who actually cares about the men and women in uniform.

Should we be concerned with what a defense lobbyist thinks about Hegseth? These are the people in favor of endless wars, after all.

It’s not that they think Hegseth is unqualified, that’s not the issue. It’s that they don’t like what he says and they don’t like the way he attacks the woke institutionalism being drilled into the U.S. military. The Pentagon is made up of thousands of employees underneath the Secretary of Defense, it’s not a one-person job to begin with.

What they hate is the possibility that a patriotic, freedom-loving American might take the military in a direction toward efficient lethality and away from social experiments on transgenderism and putting up pride flags.

In a sense, this is the chickens coming home to roost as Hegseth, a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, is someone who spent time in combat carrying out the orders of the generals who sat safe and sound in Washington.

For these reasons and many more, Hegseth must be confirmed if only to right the course of the military by restoring level-headed leadership to the upper echelons of the command structure.
