After announcing his candidacy in June, former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman hasn’t been able to make any strong inroads in terms of support or poll numbers. His candidacy was hailed by the media with great fanfare, however, his campaign manager has now resigned giving another stumbling block to his fledgling campaign.
Report from the UK Telegraph:
Republican Jon Huntsman’s campaign manager resigned on Thursday only a month after the former ambassador to China launched his presidential bid, raising fresh questions about the campaign’s prospects in a crowded field.
Mr Huntsman, a former state governor, opened his presidential campaign in June with a high-profile announcement at the same park where Ronald Reagan launched his 1980 presidential run, with the Statue of Liberty as the backdrop.
The campaign has struggled to gain traction, ranking in the single digits in early national polls as well as in surveys in early nominating states.
Mr Huntsman’s campaign said in a statement that campaign manager Susie Wiles would be replaced by Matt David, who had served as the campaign’s communications director. John Weaver, a senior Huntsman adviser, said Miss Wiles was “vital in getting (the campaign) off the ground in such a short time-frame.”
Huntsman has been a fleeting fad and I don’t think he will end up building a formidable coalition by the time the early primary states are rolling around.
