Report from Politico:

The seeming truce at the beginning of the 4th GOP debate lasted until the first commercial break, and not much longer.

Bobby Jindal went on the attack against Chris Christie, going after the New Jersey governor’s record on economic issues, dinging him as a “big-government Republican.”

“We need a conservative, not a big-government Republican in D.C.,” Jindal said.

Records matter, Jindal said, as does the way governors govern. The Louisiana governor pointed to credit upgrades and budget decreases in Louisiana and credit downgrades and budget increases in New Jersey.

“My point is this,” Jindal said. “If politicians say they’re going to be conservative, say they’re going to cut spending, but they don’t do it, why should we send them to D.C.? It gets harder, not easier when we send them to D.C. … Let’s not just beat Hillary, let’s elect a conservative to the White House.”

Christie shot back: “If you go to New Jersey, they’ll call me lots of different things. A liberal is not one of them.”

After Christie praised Jindal for his record as governor, Jindal pounced again, remarking that it is not enough to point to Hillary Clinton as the reason for electing him.

Jindal did come out swinging which Christie constantly deflecting in favor of attacking Hillary Clinton instead. I actually took this as a last-ditch effort by Jindal to dig out of the polling basement. Huckabee and Santorum became a bit irrelevant during portions of the Christie/Jindal feud. I don’t think it’s going to matter much as no candidate, with the exception of Carly Fiorina, has successfully used the early debate to catch any polling wave and earn a spot in primetime. There is a chance that Christie moves back onto the main stage in December depending on the polling threshold set for participation.
