The Republican National Committee announced that an additional GOP debate would be added on January 14 hosted by the Fox Business Network. Up to this point, January was pretty sparse for GOP debates with the first one not scheduled in 2016 until January 28. This adds another date in the middle of an important month just two days after President Obama’s 2016 State of the Union Address. The 2016 Republican debate schedule has been updated to reflect this new addition.
Press release from Fox Business:
FOX Business Network will host its second Republican presidential primary debate on Thursday, January 14 at the North Charleston Coliseum and Performing Arts Center in North Charleston, South Carolina. The debate, which has been sanctioned by the Republican National Committee, will be held two days after the State of the Union address.
FBN’s first debate in November drew 13.5 million viewers, smashing network ratings records. More information on the debate including moderators, entry criteria and the line-up will be released closer to the air date.
Fox Business generally received positive reviews from their first debate back on November 10 with candidates and voters alike seeming to appreciate moderators taking a “hands off” approach. Fox Business has not released the names of who will moderate this next debate, though I’m sure it’s not a leap to say Neil Cavuto and Maria Bartiromo will reprise their roles.
